Romeo & Juliet

Sydney Scene | Shane | August 5, 2009 at 6:07 pm

romeojulietAn ensemble of puppets play out Shakespeare’s timeless story of two smitten teenagers who are doomed from their very first kiss. The star-crossed lovers try, but fail, to defeat the age-old rivalry between their two families and a world that cannot comprehend the power of their love.
Ultimately Romeo & Juliet is a play about the cruelty of fate: if only the messenger had delivered the letter; if only Juliet had woken up sooner. Told with infectious humour and heart-wrenching humanity, this wildly inspiring and imaginative interpretation is a memorable yet lightheartedintroduction to Shakespeare.
