It’s that time of year again folks. Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Spring Summer 2009/10 starts today (27 April) and will run through to 1 May 2009 – set against the spectacular backdrop of Circular Quay.

A selection of Australia and the Asia Pacific’s best designers will present their collections to some of the world’s most significant members of the fashion industry. RAFW is an exclusive industry-only event, made accessible to registered buyers, agents, media, stylists and other fashion industry representatives.

Located at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney, the official five-day schedule will feature designers in on-site and off-site Collection Shows, RAFW Agent Designer Suites at The Westin Hotel, Emerge and The Boutique Showrooms.

Click here for more info about Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Not on the industry guest list? Well you can enjoy some of the fun too…just a couple of months later! Following on from the success of RAFW – comes the Sydney Fashion Festival. Brought to you by the same experts responsible for RAFW, the Fashion Festival brings Australia’s biggest fashion names to the public from 17 – 22 August 2009. Yes, August is some time away, but if you want to be part of it, you need to opt in now for the first release tickets.

Last year saw five days of free and ticketed public events. The festival profiled the contemporary Spring Summer collections of local and international fashion brands as these new season’s looks arrived into stores throughout the city. A specially built, state-of-the-art marquee at Martin Place welcomed international models to the catwalk and celebrities to the front row.

Starting from Monday 10th November, Planet Ark is hosting National Recycling Week. To start off the week a Swap Party is being held in Martin Place on Monday afternoon.

This is a great initiative to help educate people on the benefits of recycling as well as education on how to recycle properly.

The Swap Party will run from 12.30 to 1.30. The idea is, you take along 3 easy-to-carry items (of a moderate quality) that you would like to swap for something else. Items might include books, CDs, DVDs, clothes, bric-a-brac etc. i.e. Don’t think about dragging your banged up washing machine or falling apart lawn mower down there

Simple exchange your items for tokens and then browse, choose, swap and enjoy. If two people want the same item, the decision will be made by a sudden-death game of rock, paper, scissors. Yes, we are serious.

Recycling has never been so much fun!

Recycling Collections
Do your part for National Recycling Week by bringing in old mobile phones, printer cartridges, batteries and eye glasses for recycling at collection stations located near Martin Place station on the day.

This is a free event run by the City of Sydney and the Planet Ark Environmental Foundation.
